REHOUSING MIRAFIORI is an urban regeneration program which, aims to activate new processes of social capacity, resilience and environmental sustainability, to improve quality of life and living in the portion of the city located in the southern fringe. Aimed primarily at the 11,000 inhabitants of the neighbourhood, the program outlines initiatives and actions whose expected effects extend to a much wider impact area, which looks to the entire south-western quadrant of Turin and the metropolitan area. With REHOUSING MIRAFIOIRI the City of Turin seeks to experiment a new way of working in which the design of regeneration program is an opportunity to involve local stakeholders and start a process where the human and non-human agents, physical elements and management components, hard infrastructural nodes and soft areas are integrated in the definition of urban transformation scenarios. The work is structured around the four axes: Social living; Urban cultures, welfare and community; Sustainability, resilience and mobility; Social innovation and economic development. These points outline an integrated strategy as much as possible contextual to the criticality that characterize a specific part of the city as well as they represent a manifesto for a new way of conceiving urban and territorial development in our contemporary Italian landscape.
